Frequently
Asked Questions
About AI Trainings in Singapore
Do I need a technical background or coding experience?
No. The courses are designed for non-technical professionals across all industries. All tools covered, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Claude, and n8n, use visual no-code interfaces.
Are there government subsidies available for AI training?
Yes. SSG subsidy covers up to 70% of course fees for Singapore Citizens and PRs aged 21 and above. Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above can use SkillsFuture Credit to offset the remaining fees. NTUC members can claim UTAP, covering up to 50% of the remaining cost, capped at up to $500 per year. Those aged 21 to 31 may also use their PSEA balance. In some cases, this can reduce out-of-pocket costs to $0.
For companies, SSG subsidies also cover up to 70% of course fees for eligible employees. The remaining fees can be further supported by SFEC, which provides up to $10,000 and covers up to 90% of costs. Employers can also claim absentee payroll at $4.50 per training hour per employee for Singapore Citizens and PRs. On top of that, EIS support is available for all employees, offering either a 400% tax deduction or a 20% cash payout based on the nett fee.
How long are the courses and can I study alongside a full-time job?
The The Generative AI Course (Level 1) runs for 21 hours across 7 lessons, followed by a final assessment. The AI Workflow Automation Course (Level 2) runs for 17 hours across 5 lessons, plus a 1-hour assessment. Both courses offer flexible scheduling options, including weekday, evening, and weekend classes, so you can fit them around a full-time job.
Most learners complete the course within 3 days to 5 weeks, depending on their chosen schedule. Sessions are available online via Zoom or in person at the Lifelong Learning Institute in Eunos.
What skills will I gain and what certificate do I receive?
Level 1 covers prompt engineering, drafting content with ChatGPT and Gemini, automating everyday tasks, working with structured data, and responsible AI use. Level 2 builds on this by teaching you to build AI agents, connect tools via APIs, and deploy automated workflows using n8n and multi-model systems. Upon successfully completing either course, you will receive a WSQ statement of attainment and a certificate from Vertical Institute, carrying an official TGS course code and recognised by employers across Singapore.
How do I choose between Level 1 and Level 2?
If you have never used AI tools seriously at work, start with Level 1. It covers the essentials from scratch with no prior experience needed. If you already use ChatGPT regularly and want to build automated systems and AI agents, go straight to Level 2. Some prior exposure to Generative AI is recommended for Level 2, though no formal qualifications are required. Still unsure? Get in touch and we will match you to the right course.
How can my company enrol employees for AI training?
Your company can enrol employees through Vertical Institute, a registered corporate training provider. Choose your course, apply for SFEC, Absentee Payroll funding and the Enterprise Innovation Scheme, and register employees individually or as a group. Vertical Institute’s corporate team will guide you through the paperwork.
What government funding is available for companies?
Companies can access several government funding support schemes. SSG subsidies cover up to 70% of course fees for eligible Singapore Citizen and PR employees. The remaining fees can be further supported by SFEC, which can cover up to 90% of the remaining fees, capped at the maximum $10,000 credit.
Employers can also claim absentee payroll at $4.50 per training hour per employee for Singapore Citizens and PRs. In addition, EIS support is available for all employees, offering either a 400% tax deduction or a 20% cash payout based on the nett fee.
What ROI can we expect from investing in AI training?
Companies with strong AI adoption achieve 3x higher revenue per employee and 4x faster workflows (PWC). AI can automate 80% of administrative tasks, delivering 20 to 28% cost savings (BCG). Organisations integrating AI report a 35% reduction in operating costs (arXiv) and a 31% average ROI improvement over two years (SAP). For most Singapore companies the return from even a small number of AI-trained employees far exceeds training costs, especially with up to 90% covered by government funding.
What is AI workflow automation, and how is it different from using ChatGPT?
Using ChatGPT by typing a prompt is useful, but every task still requires you to trigger it manually. AI workflow automation goes further. You build a system where AI tools connect to each other and to your existing apps, and the whole process runs automatically with little or no human input. Instead of manually summarising emails and updating a spreadsheet, an AI workflow helps you do both once a new email arrives. It turns AI from a helpful tool into a working system that saves hours each week.
What is agentic AI and why does it matter for Singapore businesses?
Agentic AI refers to systems that can plan, decide, and act on their own. Given a goal, they figure out how to achieve it without being guided through each step. Unlike a chatbot that responds to questions, an AI agent can handle complex multi-step tasks end to end, such as screening applications, shortlisting candidates, and scheduling interviews, all without manual input. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s Budget 2026 speech called explicitly for Singaporeans to build AI skills, and Singapore’s National AI Strategy 2.0 is driving enterprise adoption. Companies building this capability now will hold a meaningful competitive advantage.
Can I learn AI automation without any coding knowledge?
Yes. The AI Workflow Automation Course is built for learners without a coding background. All platforms covered, including n8n, use visual drag-and-drop interfaces with no code required.
Is the AI Workflow Automation Course SkillsFuture funded?
Yes. The course is WSQ accredited and supported by SkillsFuture Singapore with a subsidy of up to 70% available. It is also eligible for SkillsFuture Credit. Course ID: TGS-2026062445. Funding valid: 19 March 2026 to 18 March 2028.
